This scope was used exclusively at my home since I purchased it. I have observed happily with this scope for the last four years – I was lucky to find a carbon fiber Fastar C-14 with equally good optics, as I want to do some Fastar imaging, so offering the “Sanford” C-14.

All unused accessory and fork mounting holes filled with stainless steel fasteners. Includes Losmandy D-Style Mounting rail, nice 8x50 finder, 2” visible back, and “Bob’s Knobs” for tool free collimation, nice handle for moving scope. The optics are in great shape, focuser is smooth. The main baffle tube is flocked with mylar backed flocking material that is snap-fit in – no adhesive – can be removed in seconds with no residue. I also triple ProtoStar flocked the scope (main tube, secondary and main baffle tubes) which makes a very positive difference in contrast. The orange paint was in poor shape – I had the tube stripped and professionally painted in a color similar to Takahashi scopes – looks really cool with the grey cells. figure in amateur astromony and early astrophotography, but in any event a great instrument – capable of very high magnification – pretty much seeing limited.

The optical figure is superb – not sure if it was hand picked for him as he was a recognized So. I purchased it in 2012 after John’s passing. This was originally an Orange Tube Celestron C-14 which belonged to longtime OCA President John Sanford.
